| Article III Protocol for accepting new members: The protocol for accepting new members to our club is a simple but lengthy procedure that can be spread over two-three monthly meetings. Meeting #1: A candidate’s NAME is introduced by a member/sponsor, followed by a short ‘bio’ of the candidate and discussion whether an invitation should be extended to the man to attend the next meeting. An email must be sent out to all the members who are not in attendance, advising them of the proposed new candidate. If at this point, a vote is taken at the club meeting and the vote is negative by less than a Simple Majority, the candidate will not be considered for membership at this time, but may in the future as our membership changes. If the vote is affirmative by Simple Majority, the candidate is invited to the next meeting. Meeting #2: The candidate attends the meeting and introduces himself with a more detailed ‘bio’, and the members present have an opportunity to become more acquainted with the candidate. If a quorum is present, and motions are presented and seconded, a prospective member may be accepted at this meeting with a vote by Simple Majority. Meeting #3: Or, if the candidate is not present due to circumstances, members may at this time vote whether to accept the candidate to the club. The requirement for approval of the proposed candidate is as follows: a) A vote by Simple Majority in the affirmative. If the vote is negative, the candidate is not accepted at this time, but may and should be considered to become a member in the future, as our membership changes. b) Abstentions will be noted but will not count for or against the candidate. The sponsoring member will notify the proposed candidate of the results of the club’s vote. |
